Turf Turning Karakia
On the 24th July 2024 in conjunction with Te Paatu Marae, Rānui Generation held a turf turning ceremony to officially kick of the commencement of the construction programme.
The karakia/blessing of the site prior to commencement of physical works was an important milestone in the relationship between Te Paatu (local Iwi) and Rānui, and an important component for the success of the project.

Construction update October 2025
We are now entering the final stages of construction. Trenching of cables and switch room works are now complete connecting the project to the grid.
With piling now 95% complete, the Team on site have been focusing on competing the final Module Mounting Systems (MMS), and fitting the last of the photo voltaic (PV) modules.
The site is already feeding power into the grid and is on track to be fully commissioned and at full capacity by the end of November / early December.
As always we thank the community for your patience, and Te Paatu Iwi for your guidance and support.

Community Consultation
The Rānui Generation Team held a drop in session at the Ongaonga Community Hall on the 10th February 2025 to discuss the project with the community. The Team felt the session was well attended, those attending from the community shared their views and concerns about the project which will be the fourth to apply for consent in the district.
After the consultation session some further investigation and small design changes were undertaken to address concerns raised.
Rānui is grateful for the time given by those in the community who attended. Resource consent for the proposal has now been lodged with Central Hawkes Bay District Council, Rānui continues to welcome discussion regarding the proposal either via Council, or directly with the Rānui Generation team via the website contact form or through the info@ranuigen.co.nz email.
Ranui Generation acquired by SC Oscar
In June 2024 SC Oscar, a Singapore-based fund management company specializing in renewable energy investments, announced the acquisition of 100% of New Zealand solar PV project developer Rānui Generation Limited (“Rānui”) through its renewable energy infrastructure fund, SC Renewable Energy Plus Fund1. Consent for the investment by the Fund was granted by the Overseas Investment Office in New Zealand in October 2023.
Community Fund
Rānui Generation is establishing a fund for each of the communities our projects are located in under the umbrella of the Perpetual Trust Foundation providing direct benefits to each of the communities.
While the details are still being finalised, each fund will have a contestable grant that will be awarded to projects that meet the grant criteria tailored to each community. The criteria will generally relate to improving energy resilience, environmental enhancement and supporting tertiary education in fields relevant to the renewable energy sector.
