Twin Rivers - Project updates
Update - Commencement of Works
On the 24th July in conjunction with Te Paatu Marae, Rānui Generation held a turf turning ceremony to offically kick of the commencement of the construction programme.
The karakia/blessing of the site prior to commencement of physical works was an important milestone in the relationship between Te Paatu (local hapu) and Rānui, and an important component for the success of the project.
Over the coming months site preparation works will get underway including a small area of contouring earthworks, construction of internal access and erection of perimeter fencing.
Update - 25% Construction Completion
With internal roads constructed and remaining earthworks underway, the Twin Rivers Solar Farm is now 25% through the construction phase and on target to be commissioned middle of 2025.
The focus now is piling (underway) and construction of mounting structures and installation of the photo voltaic (PV) modules. Local residents may hear the pile ramming machine, which will operate during our consented hours of work only and comply with the permitted construction noise thresholds. Our contractors are working hard to make sure the piles are installed as quickly as possible and hope to have the works completed early in the new year.
Truck deliveries to site (via SH1) have reached the busiest period, they will reduce significantly in the new year.
Grid connection from site to Top Energy's substation is via an underground cable within SH1 Road Reserve. This work is being completed by Top Energy and is on target to be completed this year.
We apprecite the patience of neighbours and the wider community during the construction phase and Te Paatu Iwi for their on going guidance and support.
